Hypnosis To Stop Smoking

If you are interested in using hypnosis to stop smoking it is important to understand how the mind works.

So what is the mind? It is easier to know what the mind does, rather than what it is. One thing is for sure - the mind thinks and the thoughts that it thinks influence our very being in ways we could never imagine.

Psycho-neuro immunology research has produced evidence that our thought patterns specifically and instantaneously affect our body chemistry and can even suppress our immune system. Everyday, scientists are increasingly surprised at the workings of the human mind. What seems mysterious one day is obvious the next and then some new piece of information arises to make it all mysterious again. For instance, various studies conducted in recent years indicate that, in the short term at least, placebos can be as effective as antidepressants in treating clinical depression. Placebo effect is the term applied by medical science to the therapeutic and healing effects of inert medicines and/or ritualistic or faith healing practices. Placebos in medicine are preparations which are pharmacologically powerless but which may have a therapeutic effect based solely on the power of suggestion. Imagine, just by taking an inert substance such as a "sugar pill" in conjunction with the suggestion from an authority figure or even from acquired information that the pill will aid in healing, and suddenly a sick individual's condition improves. This effect has been known for years, but why does it happen? This is part of the search for the secrets of the mind.

The mind is a complex thing. It ascends quickly to what it believes to be the truth. It grabs at any declaration, proposition, or alleged fact; it creates evidence to support its beliefs even if there is no personal knowledge or objective facts to support those beliefs. For example, a person may sincerely believe he knows something to be true but realize later that he was completely inaccurate. Likewise, another person may have great knowledge about something and not even be aware that he possesses such knowledge.

Beliefs are habitual thought. The words we use to express them to others or to ourselves have corresponding images in the mind. These images have corresponding emotions which have corresponding actions, If you want to quit smoking, you will need to interrupt the habit of thought that leads to smoking and create a different one. It is that simple!
